ESPN updated its SP+ rankings post-spring and ranked Alabama football as the No. 2 team in the country.
The SP+ ranking system is a ‘predictive measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football, not a résumé ranking,’ per ESPN.
The rankings consider returning production, recent recruiting and recent history. Ohio State is ranked as the No. 1 team. Penn State is behind Alabama at No. 3, followed by Georgia at No. 4 and Texas at No. 5.
Notre Dame is at No. 6, Oregon is at No. 7, Clemson is at No. 8, LSU sits at No. 9 and Michigan rounded out the top 10 at No. 10.
