It is unclear if Alabama football’s tight end, Josh Cuevas will be available for the Crimson Tide’s upcoming matchup against Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
Cuevas missed the Crimson Tide’s last game against Eastern Illinois. He has been a reliable target in the passing game this season, pulling in 30 receptions for 341 yards and four touchdowns.
Alabama continues to evaluate the tight end.
“We’ll just keep evaluating him here throughout this week,” DeBoer said on Monday.
Alabama put an emphasis on playing young tight ends against Eastern Illinois with Cuevas out. DeBoer detailed the thinking behind that focus.
“That was certainly intentional with getting some guys some action out there, even some of the way just I think coach Grubb called the game, just making sure that we got some reps,” DeBoer told reporters. “You’ve seen Caleb out there all season long. So, it’s a combination of guys that you’re really focused on as much as anything, and I thought Marshall (Pritchett) did a nice job, Brody (Dalton) did a nice job. Jay (Lindsey) did a nice job as well in their roles, just getting them more snaps. We get better with reps. It doesn’t matter who we are.”
Alabama could be leaning on young tight ends against Auburn.
