Alabama Heisman Trophy winner all in on Keelon Russell leading Tide on run this season

Alabama football’s Heisman Trophy winner and Fox Sports college football analyst Mark Ingram is all in on Keelon Russell.

Russell beat out Austin Mack to become the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback. He started his first game against East Carolina and finished the game with 256 yards while completing 18 of his 30 passing attempts. He also rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries.

This was performance was enough for Ingram to say he is fully on the Russell train.

“Russell, that man is special,” Ingram said on “The Triple Option” show. “He is a dog. He came out of his first game, was in and out the huddle, making big plays, throwing the ball, running the ball, leadership. And when, not if, when Alabama makes this run, and they winning football games, and they climbing up the rankings, it’s gonna be because of Keelon Russell. So when you talk about a dark horse that has a chance to move up the rankings rapidly and quickly and efficiently, look no further than your boy, Keelon Russell, with the Roll Damn Tide, and we don’t give a piss about nothing but the Tide.”

The Crimson Tide moved up one spot in the AP Top 25 poll after Russell led them to a win over the Pirates.

Alabama will be back in action Saturday against Kentucky on the road. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
