Lane Kiffin begged for the Alabama job after Saban retired, per Paul Finebaum

Paul Finebaum said Lane Kiffin begged to get the Alabama football job when Nick Saban retired, and Finebaum said Kiffin called him.

Kiffin coached under Saban as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator before taken the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic University. He left FAU to become the head coach at Ole Miss.

“He went to Ole Miss finally,” Finebaum said on ESPN’s “UNSPORTSMANLIKE.” “He’s tried to, he’s almost taken countless jobs. He almost took the Auburn job 3 years ago. He begged for the Alabama job. Ask me how I know. He called me in the middle of my show one day, said, can you get me in this job after Saban left? They won’t call me. Of course, they hired Kalen DeBoer.”

Kiffin is now the head football coach at LSU.
