Alabama Heisman Winner says it will be hard to take Heisman away from Russell if he does this

Keelon Russell is officially in the Heisman conversation after yet another four-touchdown performance.

Russell has thrown for 1,414 yards and two touchdowns through five games. He has also rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns.

Mark Ingram, who was the first Alabama player to ever win the Heisman Trophy, recently commented on Russell’s play as of late and his chances of winning the award.

“He’s getting comfortable more and more each and every week,” Ingram said on “The Triple Option Show.” “He’s leading the offense as a leader. He can throw the ball in a tight window. He’s very accurate. He also is explosive with his legs. So, you talk about being 26 for 26 in the red zone, that’s efficient. That’s making good decisions. And that’s obviously the offensive line and being able to run the football as well. Now you got Georgia coming to town. It’s a step up. And Keelon Russell, I think this is a maturity test for him. I’m proud of this young bull, man. And he’s a special player and we’re lucky to have him. Jeremiah Smith is the best player in the world, but this dude Keelon Russell, he keeps playing at this level, Alabama keeps winning football games of the magnitude that they’re gonna play on Saturday, it’s gonna be hard to take it from him.”

Russell and Alabama will play against a top-10 team for the first time this season when the Tide welcomes Georgia to town this weekend. Kickoff for the matchup is set for 6:30 p.m.
