It is unclear who will start at quarterback for Tennessee against Alabama on Saturday.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel provided some insight Tuesday on who will likely start against the Crimson Tide.

“As for Tennessee at quarterback, there’s some ambiguity here going forward this week,” Thamel said. “George MacIntyre’s first career start was at Arkansas last week. Obviously had his ups and downs. I’ve been told by sources that Faizon Brandon has experienced an uptick in practice reps this week. No decision is imminent on who will start in this game, but based on Brandon’s availability coming off that shoulder injury against Texas, it appears to give him a better shot at getting some snaps in this game. We may end up seeing both quarterbacks for now, but there’s no clarity yet on who’ll be the starter against the Tide.”

Brandon started as a freshman during the Vols’ first couple of games. An injury sidelined him and allowed MacIntyre to step in, and he started against Arkansas in the Vols’ last game.
