Fatutoa Henry stepped up and took full advantage of the uptick in snaps he received against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.

Henry had a breakout performance in Alabama’s 31-20 win, and he finished the game with four total tackles, two sacks and two tackles for loss.

The California product entered the game with 1.5 sacks on the season. It was also unclear if he would even play in the game earlier in the week.

The Crimson Tide listed him as questionable in its first availability report of the week on Wednesday. He was upgraded to probable on Thursday.

“I’m really proud of him,” DeBoer said. “He had just an injury there in the week that I wasn’t even sure if he would be with us come Saturday. I can’t be more proud of guys like him and specifically him since you asked, the way that they just continue to push forward and he did that exactly that exact thing, really the latter part of the week, getting himself ready, knowing that we really needed him out there with just some guys that are still out and kind of coming back with the edge position in particular.”

Alabama signed Henry as a junior college transfer, and he is in his second year with the Tide.

Henry received more playing time upfront due to several injuries. However, it is now safe to say he will be a permanent key member of the Tide’s defensive front moving forward.
