Seattle Seahawks waive DT Jesse Williams

Joe Nicholson- USA TODAY Sports

The pride of Australia has his run in Seattle come to an end.

Ex-Alabama defensive tackle Jesse Williams was waived from the Seahawks Tuesday, per Brady Henderson of 710 ESPN Seattle. He was taken in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft and spent his first two years on injury reserve with knee issues.

Despite having two NFC Conference titles and a Super Bowl ring, Williams was released from Seattle on Mar. 16, 2015.

He would return in a couple of weeks after agreeing to a new deal, but Williams would have another demon to fight.

He was diagnosed with papillary (kidney) type two cancer in May 2015. Williams preserved and found himself in preseason action for the team.

The 6-foot-4, 334-pounder was a beloved asset at Alabama.

Williams celebrated two national championships (2011, 2012) and a Southeastern Conference title in 2012.
