TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– Former Alabama wide receiver Gehrig Dieter has started the transition in preparing for the National Football League, by accepting an invitation to play in the 2017 Shrine Game.

The South Bend, Ind., native served at receiver for Bowling Green University and Southern Methodist University, prior to transferring to the University of Alabama in the summer of 2016.
He did not record monster numbers or capture a national championship; however, his versatility was pivotal in the Crimson Tide winning a Southeastern Conference title and a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Trophy.
Dieter ended the season with four touchdown receptions, and aided running back Damien Harris to a 1,000-yard season (1,037). Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Game has showcased future NFL greats playing for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children. The 92nd annual East-West Shrine Game will be on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. NFL Network is scheduled to call the game at 3 p.m. (ET).
