There is officially a new number one team in the country, and it’s a very familiar face. After defeating Ole Miss last Saturday the Alabama Crimson Tide leaped past the Clemson Tigers to claim the top ranking in the AP Poll.
Over the last couple weeks the writing has been on the wall for Dabo Sweeney’s squad. Although Clemson has not lost a game yet this season, the team has not looked nearly as over powering as it did in 2018. Clemson has had its fair share of struggles with sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence as well. Entering the season with a ton of Heisman hype, Lawrence has not lived up to the lofty expectations of the masses thus far and the team as a whole has struggled at times because of it.
Following a narrow victory against North Carolina last weekend the Tigers now find themselves one slot below the Crimson Tide.

Alabama on the other hand has looked dominant right from the word go. Averaging an appauling 51.8 points per game, Tua Tagovailoa and the offense is firing on all cylinders. Unlike Clemson, the Crimson Tide is yet to be challenged for an entire 60 minutes through the first five games of the year.
