While the energy has been great from coaches and players in Zoom calls, it has been even better seeing the right attitudes and individuals step up on the practice field.
With the video provided by Alabama Athletics, here are the notes from the third session of fall camp.
Notes from Thursday’s practice
-Alabama’s inside linebackers performed angle tackling drills against its running backs.
-The rotation at running back continues to be Najee Harris, Brian Robinson Jr., and Trey Sanders on video, with Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams and Kyle Edwards behind them.
-As for the linebackers, Dylan Moses led the drill. Christian Harris, Jaylen Moody, Shane Lee and Joshua McMillon were involved in the drill as well.
-When it came to stopping the feet of the running backs and double-teaming on tackles, Moses and Harris were paired together to stop Najee Harris. Shane Lee and freshman Jackson Bratton (No. 33) were the next pairing to stop Harris in the hole.
-True freshman Demouy Kennedy (No. 37) was tasked with defending Brian Robinson Jr.
-The first-team defensive line in reps continues to be Christian Barmore, DJ Dale and LaBryan Ray.
-During an agility drill, it appeared the defensive line and outside linebackers went together.
-The camera caught true freshmen Drew Sanders (No. 16) and Tim Smith (No. 50) in the drill running.
-Although they enjoy making big catches, Holman Wiggins had the wide receivers train on blocking.
-The group formed one line and worked on driving players off the line of scrimmage for five yards.
-In one of the blocking drills, Devonta Smith was the featured receiver. Despite his size (6-1/175 pounds), he is known for being one of the best blockers on the team. The senior from Louisiana is very physical and does not mind the dirty work.
-Alabama will have Friday off, and then it will return to practice on Saturday at 3:40 p.m.
