Tagovailoa, a native Hawaiian, was selected at No. 5 overall in April by the Dolphins.
The 6-foot, 217-pounder had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Alabama, despite injuries. He rescued the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017 and guided the program to a Southeastern Conference title in the following season. Tagovailoa won a host of individual honors in his career — including Maxwell, Walter Camp, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Sporting News College Football Player of the Year awards.
He was a first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC selection in 2018. Once a five-star, Tagovailoa set the school’s single-season record for passing yards (3,966), touchdown passes (43) and total scores (48). He finished runner-up for the Heisman Trophy that season.
Miami is very excited to have Tagovailoa.

After a tough first week of training camp, he turned things up in week two and has the Dolphins’ coaching staff looking forward to the playoff runs and a potential Super Bowl.
For now, he stands behind Ryan Fitzpatrick but Tagovailoa’s moment to be the starter could come at any given moment.
