Cam Akers, the No.3 running back in the 2017 class has decided to open up his recruitment and decommit from Alabama.
The 4-star prospect made the announcement via Twitter.

Akers, a Clinton, Miss. native had been committed to the Crimson Tide since August along with two other running backs including the nation’s top prospect, Najee Harris of Antoich, Calif. and the No.15 running back in the class, Brian Robinson, a hometown kid who plays his high school games at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa.
Akers’ recruitment really began heating up in the last two months picking up offers from Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and more. With that said, it’s no surprise that this decommitment happened.
Alabama is still in play for Akers, who has a strong relationship with defensive line coach Bo Davis and still considers Alanama a favorite. The Tide will likely try to get another back in this class in the case that Akets does not re-commit to the Tide.
The likely targets will be Cordarrion Richardson of Memphis, Tenn. or Toneil Carter of Houston,Tx. along with others.
Akers is the second decommitment of the day as QB Jake Fromm flipped his commitment to Georgia this morning.
