Coach hopes that Drake recovers quickly

Cedric Mason- Touchdown Alabama

Miami Dolphins third round draft pick Kenyan Drake suffered a hamstring injury during practice, according to the Sun Sentinel.

The strain has set back the rookie running back, and with a previous history of injuries, it raised a red flag for coaches.

Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase, was concerned with the injury, but reassured everyone that Drake would be ready for training camp.

“Obviously, we saw him limp off,” Gase said in his press conference, following Thursday’s practice. “He’s going to have to get it healthy as fast as possible. But he’ll be ready to go for camp.”

Drake injured the hamstring in a drill centered around blocking punts. Trainers oversaw the injury, and Drake made his way for the locker room without returning to practice. Drake returned to practice Thursday, wearing a compression sleeve while watching from the sideline.

The Dolphins have not set a definitive date for training camp, but expect it to start sometime towards the end of July.

The Dolphins former running back, Lamar Miller, left for Houston in free agency. He was the leading rusher for the Dolphins during the last three seasons. Jay Ajayi is sitting at  the No. 1 RB spot on the depth chart, despite only rushing for 187 yards in 2015.

If healthy, Kenyan Drake has the chance to possibly see significant playing time. Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for the rookie running back.
