Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson starts rehab, despite coming off surgery

Marvin Gentry - USA TODAY Sports

Mack Wilson is a different breed of toughness.

The average person would take it slow after having surgery to repair of foot injury, but the talented sophomore linebacker does not waste time. From his Twitter name “Maserati Mack” to his style of play, Wilson is bent on making a return for Alabama and continue his season.

Two days after surgery, the Montgomery native posted a video of himself jumping rope on one foot to social media.

He captioned the video “Grind don’t stop” and left a tweet below the video that would make his head coach, Nick Saban, very proud. Before the injury happened against LSU, Wilson was credited with 21 tackles, three interceptions and three quarterback hurries.

While he’s scheduled to be out four-to-six weeks, the Crimson Tide has an opportunity to have the five-star back either for the Southeastern Conference title game or College Football Playoff.

For now, Alabama is preparing for its matchup versus quarterback Nick Fitzgerald and Mississippi State this weekend at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss. Following the second installment of CFP rankings via ESPN, the Tide remains at No. 2 behind Georgia.
