It’s not often that one sees college football’s ultimate schemer look helpless, but a comical moment happened Thursday with Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and some players taking part in a summer tradition: spending time with Saban on his boat at Lake Tuscaloosa.

According to a video obtained by TMZ Sports, what was supposed to have been an exciting boating, tubing, fun in the water experience turned into the 2017 College Football Playoff national champions being lost at sea.

Saban, who is normally prepared for anything, did not recognize that there was not enough gas in the boat upon pulling out and then the fun started.

Thanks to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the hero of the national title game against Georgia, Crimson Tide fans will have hilarious videos of how the team tried to make the best of a crazy situation. Linebacker Terrel Lewis and cornerback Shyheim Carter were among players creating much laughter on social media, especially when they realized the boat had no gas.

While opposition in college football would like to see the Tide stranded in the water until the season starts, we do believe that Saban and company made it back to dry land.
