It was sunny with temperatures at 92 degrees on Tuesday, as Nick Saban and Alabama football took the practice field to continue its prep for New Mexico State. After its 42-3 win over Duke, the Crimson Tide return to Bryant-Denny Stadium for its home opener this weekend.

During media availability for the players, wide receiver DeVonta Smith and defensive end LaBryan Ray both talked on how improvements need to made — despite the team winning on last week.

Ray, a junior, was highly complimentary of freshmen players Shane Lee, Christian Harris and DJ Dale — stating that all three catch onto things very quickly.

Alabama will look for these guys to build off the early success.

Listed below are notes and observations from practice.
