During his Monday press conference, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron discussed the locker room speech he gave to his team where he used colorful language when talking about Alabama.

“We’re gonna beat their (explicit) in recruiting, we’re gonna beat their (explicit) every time they see us,” Orgeron said following Saturday’s 46-41 victory. “You understand that? Roll Tide what? (Explicit) you.”

Today the head coach took to the media to talk about the video which was tweeted out by one of his players.

“Wish that wouldn’t happen,” said Orgeron. “That shouldn’t happen. I addressed the player that did it. He felt bad about it. They’re so used to having those phones on them all the time. We have pregame meal and I say, ‘Can you turn your phones off just a little bit so we can say prayer?’ And we say the prayer and boom, they’re back on their phones.

” I think that’s just the product of today. Everybody carries their phone on them all the time. I don’t think it was done with malintent or nothing like that. I addressed it with the young man and I don’t think it’s gonna happen again.”

Orgeron’s comments were met with thunderous criticism from Alabama fans with the consensus being that he didn’t show respect to the team. He was then asked directly about the specifics of his speech and the head coach laid out the emotional moment he had with the team.

“The things that I say outside the media, those are the things I want to get out,” Orgeron said. “If I wanted that to get out, I would have said it outside. You get emotional. When you talk to your team, it’s your family. Just like we all talk to our family. We all talk around the dinner table, we say some things that outside the family we don’t say.

“It was no means to hurt anybody or nothing like that. It was just a fiery moment, a very emotional moment with our team. That’s all that was.”
