Three Alabama players landed even more preseason watch list nominations on Tuesday.

Defensive back Patrick Surtain, middle linebacker Dylan Moses and defensive lineman LaBryan Ray all were named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

The trio from the Crimson Tide are among 98 other candidates from across the country who’ve also been named to the list.

Alabama has had just one player take home the award which was defensive lineman Jonathan Allen back in 2016.

This is the second nomination in as many days for Surtain and Moses and the first of two nominations for Ray on the day.

Ray, spent a majority of the 2019 season out with a foot injury but his three starts were productive ones. In the three games he appeared in Ray accumulated nine total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack before his season was cut short.

In his two seasons playing under Nick Saban, Surtain has appeared in all 28 games and has started in 25 consecutively. During his career Surtain has intercepted three passes, defended 15, recorded 79 tackles and forced four fumbles.

Moses missed the entire 2019 season with injury and has a little bit to prove in his final season at Alabama. When healthy Moses was one of the top linebackers in all of college football. He started 17 of his 26 games in Tuscaloosa, and within those games posted 126 career tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, forced two fumbles and grabbed one interception.

The Bronko Nagurski Award has been presented annually since 1993 by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Football Writers Association of America to recognize the top defensive player in college football. The award is named in honor of college and NFL Hall of Famer Bronko Nagurski.

The 2020 winner will be announced at the Charlotte Touchdown Club’s annual awards banquet in December of this year.
