Pleasant Grove’s Cam Wormley is the next in-state star DB with Malachi Moore similarities

Cam Wormley poses for picture after Pleasant Grove practice

Cam Wormley led the Pleasant Grove Spartans in interceptions as a freshman and is set to snag the attention of D1 college football coaches this upcoming season.

The 5-foot-9, 165 pound speedster produced at multiple positions in the Spartans’ secondary in 2020. He saw playing time at safety and at cornerback during Pleasant Grove’s 12-3 season.

The sophomore has a skillset that should easily translate to the next level. Wormley’s anticipation skills jump out on film. He disrupts throws by jumping the wide receivers’ routes and getting ahead of the play.

Wormley is also a threat to make plays as a returner. He has great acceleration and can reach top speed fairly quickly.

While his recruitment has yet to develop wings of its own, Wormley is working to put together a solid sophomore season.

“I want to make sure I am consistently getting my head around when I am running with a defender,” Wormley said. “I just want to strengthen my ball-tracking skills.”

Wormley wants to play football in the SEC one day and considers LSU to be his dream school. The Pleasant Grove defensive back also has a lot of interest in Alabama.

“I would love to go there,” Wormley told Touchdown Alabama. “It is another school I would really love to go to.”
