Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle have rekindled the Alabama connection with the Miami Dolphins.

During Wednesday’s joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons, both players torched Atlanta’s defensive secondary with their chemistry.

Tagovailoa found multiple wide receivers — including Waddle — for touchdowns, while the No. 6 overall pick made defensive backs for the Falcons look silly. Atlanta showed Tagovailoa different looks, but the second-year quarterback tossed at least three touchdowns.

He is becoming more confident with each practice, and the former Alabama signal-caller might be a darkhorse MVP candidate. Tagovailoa likes the communication of Charlie Frye and the Dolphins’ offensive coaching staff.

Despite an interception against the Chicago Bears, he completed eight of 11 passes for 99 yards.

Tagovailoa converted three third downs in his first preseason game, including a 50-yard completion to Mike Gesicki on third down with four yards to go. He will lead Miami into its matchup with Atlanta on Sunday in the team’s second preseason game.

Tagovailoa and Waddle connected for nine touchdowns in two seasons at Alabama.

Both had moments that impressed fans. The Dolphins want both to excel in the fall.
