Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa expected to play versus Bengals, despite injuries

Tua Tagovailoa celebrates victory for Dolphins over Ravens on Thursday Night Football

He suffered back and ankle injuries in Miami’s victory over the Buffalo Bills, but Tua Tagovailoa led the Dolphins to a 21-19 win.

Tagovailoa was listed as ‘questionable’ for Thursday’s matchup between Miami and Cincinnati, but he is expected to play via several NFL insiders. He has an opportunity to avenge his loss to Joe Burrow from 2019 when Tagovailoa was at Alabama and Burrow was the starting quarterback for Louisiana State University. Both guys performed well, but Tagovailoa battled an ankle injury and the Crimson Tide suffered a 41-46 loss. Burrow delivered the Tigers to a College Football Playoff National Championship season.

Tagovailoa has been superb in three matchups, including a career-high 469 passing yards and six touchdowns in a victory over Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. He is second among quarterbacks in the National Football League for passing yards (925), tied for third for touchdown passes (eight), first for quarterback rating (82.8), fourth for completion percentage (71.3), and second for passer rating (117.8).

The matchup is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
