He is on the same team as the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and a Heisman finalist, but Jahmyr Gibbs is starting to rise on betting odds for this year’s coveted bronze honor.

As a native Georgian and Georgia Tech transfer, Gibbs filled in the departed Jameson Williams as an explosive player. He leads Alabama in rushing with 64 carries for 532 yards. Gibbs has two rushing touchdowns, averages 8.3 yards per rush attempt, and 88.7 yards per game. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder brought versatility as a receiver, totaling a team-high 22 receptions. He has 220 yards receiving and two scores. Gibbs became the Crimson Tide’s first 100-yard rusher of the season with 206 yards against Arkansas. He returned with 154 yards rushing versus Texas A&M, giving him back-to-back 100-yard performances this year.

Bryce Young and Will Anderson are expected Heisman contenders for Alabama, but now Gibbs is drawing attention.

According to Vegas Insider, Gibbs has the eighth-highest odds to win at +2500. He is ahead of Anderson (+5000) but behind Young (+1400). A strong game versus Tennessee could give Gibbs a boost in the odds. We will see how he plays on Saturday.
