Nick Saban takes shot at Big Ten after conference wins three straight National Championships

Former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is widely regarded as the greatest head coach in the history of college football. 

Saban spent 17 total seasons as the Crimson Tide’s head coach from 2007-2023. The former Alabama coach won six total National Championships with the Crimson Tide, and Saban now finds himself as one of the most popular analysts among all major sports. 

Saban was recently asked about the Big Ten’s recent success over the SEC, as the legendary head coach believes the conference is not better despite their recent string of National Championships.

“I think the only reason people are talking about this is we dominated for so long, and we were so good, everybody makes a big deal out of being able to beat us.” Saban said. “That doesn’t mean they’re better than us, and that doesn’t mean that just because you win the championship that you have a better conference. It just means you have one better team.” 

Saban held an overall record of 206-29 (120-18 SEC) over the course of his career at Alabama. The former head coach doesn’t believe the Big Ten is better than the SEC despite recent history, and the SEC as a whole will now look to secure yet another National Championship in 2026.
