Mike Leach told the media he felt Mississippi State’s players were afraid of Alabama’s jerseys after Mississippi State was defeated by the Crimson Tide 30-6 Saturday.

Leach and the Bulldogs’ offense did not put up a single score through three-quarters of Saturday’s game. Mississippi State scored its first touchdown of the game in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. Leach believes Alabama jerseys scared the Bulldogs’ players.

“I’ll tell you one thing they do that gives us trouble,” Leach said. “We’ve got some guys that are afraid of the jersey that says Alabama on it. We spent a lot of time frightened of their jerseys. You want to scare some of the guys on our team, put an Alabama jersey on, it’ll scare the hell out of them.”

The Mississippi State head coach went on to say he does not know how he can assist Mississippi State players with their fears.

“I don’t know, maybe we have to hang them in their lockers because there are other really good teams that we’re not afraid of their jerseys,” said Leach. “But we’re afraid of Alabama’s jerseys.”
