An announcement came Thursday from the Rotary Club of Houston on Anderson becoming a finalist.

He joins Georgia’s Brock Bowers (tight end) and Jalen Carter (defensive lineman) and USC’s Tuli Tuipulotu (defensive lineman). Anderson leads the Southeastern Conference in tackles for loss (13) and is tied for fifth in the nation with seven sacks. He has a team-high 10 quarterback hurries, one blocked field goal, and a pick-six. The 6-foot-4, 243-pounder could become the third Crimson Tide player to win the Rotary Lombardi honor, joining Cornelius Bennett (1986) and Jonathan Allen (2016).

The winner of the Lombardi Award will be announced on Dec. 7.

Anderson will lead the Tide’s defense against Austin Peay on Saturday.
