Former Alabama DB Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix to retire from NFL as a Packer

Raymond Carlin III - USA Today Sports

One of the best playmaking safeties of the Nick Saban era at Alabama is calling it a career in the National Football League.

Ha’Sean “Ha Ha” Clinton-Dix is signing a one-day contract for the Green Bay Packers. He is planning on retiring from the league with the Packers, according to NFL reporter Ari Meirov. Clinton-Dix got selected by the Packers at No. 21 overall in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons in Green Bay (2014-18), earning second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2016.

Clinton-Dix played 71 games, including 65 starts, for the Packers.

He totaled 378 tackles, including a career-high 100 tackles in 2015, 5.5 sacks, 25 passes defended, 14 interceptions (five picks in 2016, career-high), three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery during his tenure in Green Bay. Clinton-Dix played for seven different NFL teams after his career at Alabama. The native Floridian was a two-time BCS National Champion (2011 and 2012), Consensus All-American (2013), and first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection (2013) for the Crimson Tide.
