Former Alabama DBs grab interceptions at NFL Pro Bowl Games

Trevon Diggs celebrates a play
Kevin Jairaj - USA Today Sports

The University of Alabama’s claim to defensive back university or “DBU” is holding well.

Two former Crimson Tide defensive backs are showing out at the NFL Pro Bowl Games. Patrick Surtain II (Denver Broncos) and Trevon Diggs (Dallas Cowboys) have recorded an interception. Diggs has bragging rights for the rest of his life as he picked off his brother, Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills. Surtain intercepted a pass off Jared Goff that was intended for Justin Jefferson.

Surtain has become one of the best defensive backs in the league.

He got selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Diggs is a playmaking defender for the Cowboys. His interception numbers dropped this season (three) versus last year (11), but quarterbacks did not try him a lot in 2022.
