Nick Saban is not happy with the possible new set of teams Alabama will play under the new proposed SEC format, according to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.
SEC teams would play nine conference games in the proposed format.
Saban said he is confused about how the SEC made the decision to give the Tide their three fixed opponents.
“I’ve always been an advocate for playing more [conference] games,” Saban said. “But if you play more games, I think you have to get the three fixed [opponents] right. They’re giving us Tennessee, Auburn and LSU. I don’t know how they come to that [decision].”
The Alabama head coach went on to say why he was not a fan of playing those three programs every year.
“We got three teams and two of them are in the top 10 and the other is in the top 10 a lot,” Saban adds. “Look historically over a 25-year history, and the three best teams in the East are Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. You look historically at 25 years, Alabama, LSU and Auburn are the three best teams in the West. So we’re playing them all.”
As the SEC moves closer to a 9-game scheduling format, Nick Saban tells @SINow that Alabama’s proposed three permanent opponents should be more balanced.
“They’re giving us Tennessee, Auburn and LSU. I don’t know how they come to that.”https://t.co/PuoHakBtPC
