The University of Alabama had wide receivers drop critical passes in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game (2021 season) against Georgia and suffered drops throughout last season.

Alabama is breaking in a new starting quarterback, and one receiver is on a mission.

Malik Benson, a junior college transfer, told Justin Smith — the Director of Scouting for Touchdown Alabama Magazine — that his game resembles Henry Ruggs III, DeVonta Smith, and Jameson Williams. The product from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College has an opportunity to show he’s right in the fall. Nick Saban hid him for much of the spring game until late in the second half. Benson dominated one drive in the fourth quarter as he caught five passes, including one for a 9-yard touchdown.

He has been training with Jalen Milroe in Florida to start the offseason.

Benson made a bold proclamation to the college football world on Twitter. He is coming after a College Football Playoff National Championship ring. An electric season should give him a championship and first-round pick status in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Alabama fans will see if he becomes the best playmaker in the room.
