The University of Alabama looks to return to the College Football Playoff in the fall and win a national championship. Nick Saban has several talented players, but which ones will emerge as the most impactful?
The staff at Touchdown Alabama Magazine will spotlight numerous players for the upcoming season.
We now move to offensive linemen for Alabama. JC Latham is first for the Crimson Tide.
JC Latham

Position: Offensive Tackle
Size: 6-6/335 pounds
2022 stats: 29 knockdown blocks, blocked for the nation’s No. 4 scoring offense (41.1 ppg)
Strengths: Elite size, athleticism, dominant running blocker, sufficient pass blocker
Weaknesses: Needs to be cleaner with penalties (had 10 in 2022)
Summary
JC Latham is pushing for an opportunity to be a top 10 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
He helped Bryce Young become the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy in 2021 and led the team with 29 knockdown blocks last year. Latham, a former five-star in the 2021 class, blocked for the nation’s No. 4 scoring offense in college football (41.1 ppg) as a starting right tackle. The Crimson Tide could transition him to left tackle in fall camp; however, we will see how Nick Saban plays his cards. Latham cleared the way for a 1,300-yard rusher (1,343) in Brian Robinson in 2021 while nearly helping Jahmyr Gibbs (926) crack 1,000 yards rushing in 2022. He is a physically imposing lineman with elite athleticism and blocking skills. The 6-foot-6, 335-pounder is squatting 1,000 pounds and benching over 500 pounds (505) this summer.
Latham will be crucial to protect whoever becomes Alabama’s starting quarterback.
He has to clean up penalties, though. Latham committed ten penalties in 2022.
