They enjoyed what Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, and Bryce Young brought to the University of Alabama in the passing game as quarterbacks, but Crimson Tide fans want a return to a power rushing attack.

A balanced offense has allowed the Tide to win its national championships under Nick Saban. The 2020 team produced a Heisman winner at wide receiver (DeVonta Smith), but Najee Harris had 1,466 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.

Alabama fans did not like seeing its program not dominate in the run game.

The Tide could not pound the football last year the way it wanted to. Eric Wolford, Alabama’s offensive line coach, has this year’s group bought into wearing down opposing defensive fronts with the ground game. Tommy Rees, the Tide’s offensive coordinator, will provide balance, but he wants to drive teams into submission. Tyler Booker, a sophomore, outlined for fans the mentality of this group up front. The talented offensive guard spoke the language of the fans by saying, “We are going to run the football.”

Booker said Alabama ‘wants to make people quit.’ Fans want to see that intensity return.
