Touchdown Alabama came up with five key questions heading into Alabama’s Week 9 matchup at South Carolina. Here’s a look at how the Crimson Tide answered those during its 29-22 victory over the Gamecocks.
Question: Can Alabama stop LaNorris Sellers?
Answer: Alabama didn’t totally shut down Sellers, but the South Carolina quarterback didn’t look like the potential top-10 pick some have him projected to be in next year’s NFL Draft.
The Tide held Sellers to 18 of 32 passing for 222 yards and a touchdown with an interception. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound playmaker rumbled for 67 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts. However, Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson was able to strip him for a fumble, which defensive lineman Tim Keenan III recovered with 1:39 remaining to set up the Tide’s game-winning drive.
“Working at that man for who knows how long,” Lawson said of his thought process while forcing the fumble. “Our coach always say take 100 rips at the ball for you to get one. Just try to do everything I can to help these guys win. I love these guys. Just gonna keep it going.”
