Touchdown Alabama came up with five key questions heading into Alabama’s Week 13 matchup vs. Eastern Illinois. Here’s a look at how the Crimson Tide answered those during its 56-0 win over the Panthers.
Question: Can Alabama build momentum on the ground?
Answer: Alabama will face a much more difficult run defense against Auburn this week, so it’s uncertain if Saturday’s performance will carry over into the Iron Bowl. However, the Tide couldn’t have asked for more from its ground game against EIU.
Alabama racked up 269 yards and eight touchdowns over the weekend, its most rushing scores since a blowout win over Vanderbilt in 1979. The Tide averaged a solid 5.5 yards per carry while spreading the ball out to 13 rushers on the afternoon.
“It’s just trying to build on everything,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said after the game. “A week ago, I thought we took a step forward. And we’ll watch the film and continue to go back to work. I feel like we got a physical football team, both sides of the ball. And that’s what’s gonna come down to here if we go down this home stretch.”
