A report of Shephard being one of two finalists for the job surfaced earlier this week when Oregon State Beavers beat writer for The Oregonian Ryan Clarke reported Shephard and Montana State’s head football coach Brent Vigen were the finalists for the job opening.
Montana State announced Vigen was staying with its football program on Wednesday.
Shephard is in his second year with the Crimson Tide. His official role is the Tide’s assistant head coach, co-offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach.
