ESPN sportscaster, Joe Tessitore feels the Alabama Crimson Tide’s five-star defensive back signee, Jireh Edwards, is the next Ed Reed, according to Front Office Sports.
Tessitore is set to call the high school National Championship game Wednesday between St. Frances Academy and Corner Canyon on ESPN2.
Edwards is expected to be a safety for the Crimson Tide. The Maryland product has the potential to be a day one contributor for the Tide in the secondary.
The Maryland product is a bigger safety at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, who can run a 4.4 forty-yard dash. His measurements are head-turning, but his film is enough to make college football coaches drool over his potential.
The senior operates as a slot defender and inside the box quite frequently for St. Frances Academy. The Panthers likely want him there because of the physicality he plays with and his ability to get to the football with great closing speed. His reported 4.4 forty time should translate in coverage against fast wideouts, who attempt to stretch the field against him if he was to choose the Tide and being assigned to the position.
Tailor made for the Husky position in Kane Wommack’s defense, he will be fun to watch wherever he lines up. pic.twitter.com/b1m4WAZdWB
