Hollywood Smothers has flipped his commitment from Alabama to Texas, according to the Hayes Fawcett of ON3.
Smothers is a North Carolina transfer who recently announced a commitment to the Crimson Tide. His decisions leave the Tide with five running backs on its roster. Alabama is returning Daniel Hill, AK Dear and Kevin Riley. The Tide is adding two freshmen in Ezavier Crowell and Trae’shawn Brown.
Smothers’ decision pushes to the forefront a new era of portal recruiting. The talented running back committed to Alabama out of the portal but still visited Texas. This was an unusual move.
