Alabama’s special teams unit will once again have an international flair. The Crimson Tide received a commitment from Marshall transfer kicker Lorcan Quinn on Monday. The Donaghmore, Ireland native was regarded as one of the top kickers in the 2025 class.
“The athlete from Ireland had one of the best performances of the spring [2025] ranking period,” Quinn’s bio on Kohl’s Kicking reads. “With the top field goal chart, Quinn scored 14 points during the event. He showed his leg strength by posting three kickoffs with over 80 yards in distance during kickoff charting. Quinn is a very coordinated athlete who can compete for a job at the collegiate level.”
During his freshman season at Marshall last year, Quinn went 21-for-26 (80.8%) on field-goal attempts with a long of 55 yards. He was 9 of 11 on kicks longer than 40 yards and was a perfect 5-for-5 from 40-49 yards out. Quinn made 38 of 39 extra-point tries and averaged 64.8 yards on 71 kickoffs with 61 touchbacks.
Alabama has recently had success with an international special-teamer, as Australian-born James Burnip served as the Crimson Tide’s punter from 2021-24, ranking second in Alabama history with a 43.9 yards per punt average.
Quinn is the third specialist to join Alabama through the portal this offseason. The Tide also brought in punter Adam Watford from North Alabama and long snapper Ethan Stangle from Syracuse.
Alabama also returns rising redshirt junior Conor Talty, who made 16 of 23 field-goal attempts and all 48 of his extra-point tries last season.
The transfer portal window opened on Jan. 2 and will remain active until Jan. 16.
