Top Power 4 teams in hot pursuit of Spain Park 2027 defensive lineman prospect

Marquis Evans has emerged as one of the top defensive linemen prospects in the country.

Spain Park 2027 DL Marquis Evans @mjevans2008 is emerging as one of the best in the country.

Ohio State, Ole Miss & Missouri offered him this week.

He is coming off a visit to Texas. Alabama visited him Monday. Auburn did so Tuesday.

Evans is a 2027 defensive lineman, and he attends Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama. He holds an impressive list of offers, and it is continuing to grow. He holds recent offers from Ohio State, Missouri and Ole Miss to go along with previous offers from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and others.

Texas was the latest program to host Evans for a visit, and the Longhorns made him feel wanted.

“They got great facilities, they made me feel at home, made me feel like a priority as well, as I know that’ll get them a good shot because what I’m looking for is to have a great connection with the coaches,” Evans said.

Alabama’s head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Tide’s defensive line coach Freddie Roach visited Evans earlier this week. Alabama offered him during the 2025 season. DeBoer and Roach used their visit to Spain Park to reconnect with the junior.

“With the transfer portal going on, it wasn’t much communication going on,” Evans told Touchdown Alabama. “But now that it’s over, we’re building that connection back up, and it’s only gonna go up from here. When they visited, we were really just connecting. It wasn’t too crazy on football. We talked about some of the things they like about my game, the weight I gained and stuff.”

South Carolina will host Evans on this weekend for a visit. Their relationship remains strong.

“They were my first offer and since the beginning, they showed me love,” Evans said “They made me feel at home, made me feel like a priority. So, whenever I go there, it’s always love, and I love to get down there.”

Ohio State threw its hat in the ring for Evans on Wednesday. The way the Buckeyes use their defensive linemen stands out to Evans.

“I really like what they do with their defensive lineman, and it’s just great to be able to be offered by them,” said Evans. “I went down to the camp last year. They told me we were gonna build a connection, and he came back down today and told me I earned it.

Evans wants to be committed by the summer.
