Quarterbacks and wide receivers were the topics for discussion after Alabama’s first scrimmage, but another offensive position took over on Friday.

Alabama’s defense cashed in on situations to have Austin Mack and Keelon Russell not be as sharp; however, a former four-star still stood out. Marshall Pritchett, a sophomore tight end from Charleston, S.C., showed why he was an elite recruit in the 2025 cycle. The 6-foot-5, 246-pounder shined in scrimmage No. 2 ahead of the A-Day game. He caught seven passes for 57 yards in 15 games last year, while contributing on special teams. Per Kalen DeBoer, Pritchett had one of his ‘best showings’ he has ever seen.
“Marshall had a nice scrimmage today,” DeBoer said. “It was one of his better showings as far as not just doing what you are supposed to do, but standing out and making some plays.”

Pritchett was a playmaker at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, leading the Eagles to an 11-2 record and a Division I State Championship as a senior in 2024. He totaled 679 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns on 51 catches. Pritchett and Kaleb Edwards are the pairing at tight end that DeBoer wants to see consistent big plays from.
Pritchett took a step in the right direction, but can it continue?
We will continue to document how he progresses.
