Former Alabama QB reacts to Ryan Grubb going after Tide fans: “Somebody tell Grubb this ain’t Seattle”

Alabama football’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb took a shot at Tide fans earlier this week.

“I told the guys, “I said, shoot, guys, if you’d have quit as fast as some of your fans, shit, we wouldn’t have won that game,”” Grubb said. “So I was proud of them. For a bunch of 19-year-olds to go out there and just 21-6 and not flinch, I was fired up.”

Former Alabama quarterback and three-time National Champion AJ McCarron reacted to Grubb’s statement on “The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty.”

“Somebody tell Grubb this ain’t Seattle,” McCarron said. “Alabama fans don’t play. Like, there’s an expectation, there’s a standard. Listen, you can say Spoiled, entitled, like whatever you want. But guess what? The 08 class and the 09 class, me, Trent (Richardson), Julio (Jones), all of us, like we made it that standard, right? And there’s an expectation to be successful each and every year. If you don’t want it, don’t take the job. I mean, DeBoer knew it. Grubb knew what he was getting into… We were down 21-3. to an FSU team that has been talked about since the start of the season, Mike Norvell being fired, right? Like, and, and they’re shitty, and who are they gonna get next? And they’re talking to Jimbo Fisher and everything, and all of a sudden you’re at home and you’re down 21-3, like Of course there’s going to be some boos. Yeah, like, it comes with the job. Like, understand it, ignore it.”

Grubb released a statement saying he should have worded his statement ‘more carefully’ on Monday.
