Trio of schools creating separation at very top for Benjamin Russell 4-Star QB

A trio of schools is creating separation at the top for 2028 quarterback, Kingston Preyear.

The four-star attends Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama, and he currently has Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt in his final six.

Alabama, Florida and Vanderbilt are standing out at this point in Preyear’s recruitment. The four-star recently told Touchdown Alabama his thoughts on these programs.

“I’ve built a great relationship with all of the programs,” Preyear said. “Florida was the first school to offer me after the season, and made it feel like home every time I’ve been down there. With some of the staff being from Alabama, we’ve got a tight bond.”

The Commodores are showing promise as a program. After two impressive seasons with Diego Pavia as QB1, Jared Curtis is expected to step into the role to push forward a new standard for Vanderbilt football. Preyear feels the program is the best of both worlds.

“Vanderbilt is a great school,” Preyear told Touchdown Alabama. “Academics are huge, and football is growing, so you’re getting the best of both worlds there. I have a great relationship with the entire staff. Coach TK (Trenton Kirklin) is a great coach, with what he knows mechanically, to help a quarterback. Coach Beck is one of the best play-callers in CFB. Creating plays to get his weapons the ball and to win games.”

Alabama football is moving up for Preyear because of its quarterback development and rich history.

“Alabama has been one of my favorite schools since I was younger,” Preyear said. “I grew up watching them and have always respected the tradition of the program. I’ve built a great relationship with the coaching staff throughout the recruiting process. Alabama has a proven history of winning and consistently developing players for the next level. Coach (Ryan) Grubb has a great offensive mind and a strong track record of developing quarterbacks. Coach (Bryan) Ellis brings a lot of knowledge to the position, and I appreciate the way he teaches the game and builds relationships with his players. Every visit has been a great opportunity to learn more about the program and continue building those relationships.”

Preyear threw for 3,127 yards and 31 touchdowns as a sophomore for the Wildcats last season. He also added 564 rushing yards.
