While July will not be as big for the Crimson Tide this year, there are a couple of recruits with pending commitment dates to pay attention to during the early part of the month.
Touchdown Alabama is looking at a pair of prospects.
Kyren Caldwell is one of them, and he is a 2027 wide receiver. The rising senior attends Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida, and he is set to announce a commitment on July 4. Caldwell will choose between Alabama, Mississippi State and Maryland.
“They were talking about me being a Z wide receiver for my first year,” Caldwell told Touchdown Alabama after he officially visited the Tide last month. “I think I could work with that.”
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Caldwell is an impressive route runner who creates separation throughout his film. He also possesses a long frame with the ability to create separation at different points in the progression of his routes. There are times when he creates separation off the line of scrimmage and at the top of routes.
Kingston Preyear is another prospect to watch. He is a 2028 four-star quarterback prospect, and he attends Benjamin Russell High School. The four-star is set to choose between Alabama, Florida and Vanderbilt on July 10.
He previously gave high praise to the Crimson Tide.
“Alabama has been one of my favorite schools since I was younger,” Preyear said. “I grew up watching them and have always respected the tradition of the program. I’ve built a great relationship with the coaching staff throughout the recruiting process. Alabama has a proven history of winning and consistently developing players for the next level. Coach (Ryan) Grubb has a great offensive mind and a strong track record of developing quarterbacks. Coach (Bryan) Ellis brings a lot of knowledge to the position, and I appreciate the way he teaches the game and builds relationships with his players. Every visit has been a great opportunity to learn more about the program and continue building those relationships.”
Preyear threw for 3,127 yards and 31 touchdowns as a sophomore for the Wildcats last season. He also added 564 rushing yards.
