Alabama football is set to take on Kamario Taylor and the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, and Taylor is a quarterback legendary head football coach Nick Saban loves.

Saban has let it be known he is a fan of Taylor in recent weeks, and he made it abundantly clear on ESPN College Gameday last Saturday.

“If I was coaching right now, I’d be trying to get Kamario Taylor to get into the portal,” Saban said.

Taylor has thrown for 1,192 yards and 14 touchdowns on the way to leading the Bulldogs to four wins and an undefeated record.

The quarterback gained more of Saban’s respect after South Carolina jumped out on Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs and Taylor had to rally back.

“Mississippi State gets behind 16-0 last week at South Carolina, and this Kamario Taylor guy is like, ‘You know, shit happens,’ and just keeps playing,” Saban said on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “They take the game over on the road in a difficult place to play. And this guy is a young quarterback; I know he’s not a freshman, but he is an outstanding player. So that shows me this guy has the right stuff to play this position.”

Taylor is considered to be one of the early Heisman favorites. The magnitude of Saturday’s game presents the quarterback with an opportunity to shine on a national stage against a talented Crimson Tide defense.

Alabama and Mississippi State will draw a lot of eyes Saturday when the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs go after one another in a top-25 matchup. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
