Ahead of this week’s Alabama at Mississippi State game, Crimson Tide defensive players spoke to reporters and shared what they’ve seen from Bulldogs quarterback Kamario Taylor on film.
Taylor has thrown for 1,192 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, and he’s in the Heisman Trophy conversation.
Defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones transferred from Mississippi State to Alabama this offseason, and he is familiar with what Taylor can do well.
“Obviously, the velocity that he throws the ball,” Bingley-Jones said. “He gets the ball in there quick and in tight windows. He’s a smart player. He doesn’t turn the ball over really. And I mean, you know, he’s a threat with his legs, but like I said, I feel like his passing has just taken off this year. He didn’t have the reps last year, but he’s getting the reps this year. That’s why he’s blossoming for sure.”
Bingley-Jones described Taylor as a humble player, saying that he’s so humble that you would never guess he’s in the Heisman Trophy conversation.
Alabama defensive back Bray Hubbard shared his thoughts on Taylor ahead of this Saturday’s game.
“Yeah, he’s a great quarterback,” he said. “Obviously, he’s got a cannon of an arm. He can hurt you with his feet. He’s got great receivers around him. He’s got a great back in the backfield, so we have to defend him. They’re a great team and he does a great job commanding their offense.”
Alabama is set to play on the road against Mississippi State at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be on ABC.
