Pete Golding’s father, Skip Golding, threatens Paul Finebaum caller

Pete Golding’s fifth season at Alabama is off to an interesting start.

He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence during the summer, but the 38-year-old put that behind him.

Golding’s game plan as a defensive coordinator was successful against Utah State, but Steve Sarkisian (former Alabama offensive coordinator) carved him up last week. Sarkisian’s script for Texas had Alabama’s defense looking confused, its defensive front not getting sacks of Quinn Ewers, and its secondary burned by the Longhorns’ receivers. Golding’s defense allowed one touchdown to Sarkisian’s offense, but Crimson Tide fans don’t see him as the coordinator the team needs. A long-time caller to the Paul Finebaum Show voiced frustration with Golding on Tuesday. Legend is his name, and he is a die-hard Alabama fan.

Per an article from AL.com, he is highly disappointed at Golding and O’Brien — calling them ‘the worst set of coordinators Alabama’s had in history.’

“I’m pissed off, dude,” Legend said. “Every Alabama game we get off scheme. Our coordinators are sorry as hell.”

Legend would then go in on Golding.

“The dude is pitiful, Paul,” Legend said about Golding. “The guy has six future first-round picks on his starting defense, and that dude can’t stop a hobbled backup quarterback, Paul. Pete Golding is living on talent. If that bum was a coach or defensive coordinator at Auburn, his ass had been ran off. If he was at Kentucky, he’d been ran off.”

Skip Golding, Pete Golding’s father, did not take kindly to Legend’s statement.

The patriarch called Finebaum and threatened Legend.

“Give me his address, “Skip Golding said of Legend. “I’ll meet his ass because I ain’t scared. I’m from south Miami.”

It is never a good situation when parents have to jump in for their children, but the patriarch wants to have his son’s back.

“It upsets me that he’s able to be on national TV and degrade my son, who has earned every bit of what he’s gotten when (the caller) doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I’m calling to defend my son,” Skip Golding continues on Legend going after Pete Golding. “I wouldn’t give that man the time of day. If I had to, I damn sure would. He’s not worth it. Thats what Pete told me. ‘He’s not worth listening to, so forget him, dad.’ Sometimes I can. Sometimes I can’t because Pete would kill me.”

Legend, like most Alabama fans, is letting out frustration. He was told this year’s team would be better than 2021, and an ugly victory over Texas had him upset. Alabama looks to clean things up before Arkansas enters the schedule.
