Alabama’s offense could receive a boost in the near future if one player continues to take steps in the right direction.
Redshirt freshman running back Richard Young had a solid performance in the second half against LSU. The former five-star had six carries for 27 yards and a touchdown. He ran with physicality and something to prove.
Young has been Alabama’s third string running back this season behind junior Jam Miller and sophomore Justice Haynes. However, his most recent performance could result in him seeing more playing time. When Young has come in, he has been impressive. I would not be surprised to see him get a few more touches in each game as the season progresses.
On the season, Young has carried the ball 18 times for 114 yards and one touchdown. He has played sparingly this season but has made the most of every opportunity. At 5-foot-11 and 216 pounds, Young is a downhill runner that can accelerate quickly in open space. He has some niftiness to his game as well.
The Florida native made a strong case to see increased playing time against the Tigers. Will he see more action moving forward?
