Alabama players react to Kalen DeBoer being linked to Michigan job

Kalen DeBoer continues to see his name tied to the Michigan job opening as he and the Alabama Crimson Tide prepare to take on Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

The Tide’s star wide receiver, Ryan Williams was asked about the noise surrounding DeBoer and Michigan on Friday.

“I mean, of course, we see it on TV, but he gave his best effort here, focused on playing against Oklahoma, so we’re not really worried about it,” Williams said.

Alabama’s starting offensive lineman Wilkin Formby was also asked about what he has heard about the link. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native shared he felt DeBoer has been the same coach he has always been as of late.

“I’ve seen a couple of things on social media,” Formby said. “I try to stay off social media, but it’s everywhere, but I heard stuff on social media. But as far as the truth to that, I don’t really see anything. He’s the same coach DeBoer to me. We just had a great practice, and I’m not too sure about all that.”

Williams was later asked if DeBoer has shared a message to the team as the rumors continue to swirl.

“He hasn’t really said much, but I mean, that’s kind of like our motto,  just focus on what’s going on internal because we gotta play for each other,” Williams said.

Alabama is preparing to take on Oklahoma in the first round of the playoff. Kickoff for the matchup is set for 7 p.m. CST on Dec. 19.
