A handful of Alabama players have favorite venues away from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Running back Derrick Henry is fond of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (New Orleans, La.), while punter JK Scott has grown accustomed to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
It was the 2014 season opener between Alabama and West Virginia when fans recognized Scott’s special talent, a golden leg. He recorded two punts, with one traveling 62 yards. In his first collegiate game, Scott averaged 50.5 yards per boot.
He returned to Atlanta last week in attempts to confirm his status as one of the best punters nationally. The sophomore averaged 51.2 yards on six tries, with a long of 59 yards.
Five of Scott’s six punts pinned the Gators inside its own 20-yard line. Florida generated one offensive touchdown and crossed into Alabama’s territory once in the second half.
Scott has bounced back after a rough start.
He now stands at 44.2 yards per punt and 18 ball dropped inside the 20. Alabama will face Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl for a semifinal playoff game on Dec. 31 in Dallas, Texas.
