Spring practice was entertaining, but Alabama football still has questions to answer at different positions.
6-foot-4 transfer DB finds home as next cornerback up for Alabama
The inside linebacker spot – especially ‘Sting’ – is a position that needs an athlete to take ownership for the Crimson Tide.
Deontae Lawson and Justin Jefferson manned the role under Kane Wommack in the last two seasons, but who takes over in the upcoming fall? Alabama has a middle linebacker ready with Caleb Woodson, a transfer from Virginia Tech, in line to run the defense as its green dot communicator. Woodson collected 152 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups, and an interception across 35 matchups for the Hokies. Alabama has three competitors for its off-ball linebacker position, a five-star freshman that could see marquee playing time, and two players who are continuing to develop.
Below is a breakdown of all three categories.
Contenders for ‘Sting’ LB
-QB Reese
-Luke Metz
-Cayden Jones
